Two persons were today killed by armed assailants here, following which the locals protested against the incident by blocking the national highway, police said.
The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Jitendra Singh and 20-year-old Kallu, police said.
The incident took place when Singh, a cable operator, went to check the cable signal in his area, they said, adding, he climbed a poll and asked Kallu to assist him.
Around five-six youths came and fired at Kallu, who died at the spot, they said.
Singh started running towards the fields but was gunned down by the accused, police added.
A case has been registered against unidentified accused, they said.
Meanwhile, irate locals protested agaianst the incident by blocking the national highway here. However, the situation was brought under control later by the police.
