Two pilgrims were killed and eight others were injured early today when the jeep they were travelling in collided with a truck near Hasanpura village in the district on Icchapur-Indore road.
The victims were returning after visiting Omkareshwar in Khandwa district on the occasion of Kumbh Mela, assistant sub- inspector Ashok Sharma of Nimbola police station said.
The injured persons were taken to Jawaharlal Nehru District Hospital. Three of them who were in serious condition were taken to Indore.

The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident, police said.
The deceased were identified as the jeep driver Thakur Virendra Singh (29) and Prabhakarrao Pawar (36).
