Two persons, including a woman, were killed and another suffered injuries when a car hit a motorcycle on NH-33 before falling into a ditch near Bongbar village in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, a police officer said.

The woman, along with her family members, was returning from Bihar's Rohtas district in a car, when around 4pm the driver lost control of the wheels while trying to prevent a collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, Santosh Kumar Gupta, the officer in-charge of Kuju police outpost in Ramgarh, said.

"Despite attempts, the driver could not save the day and hit the bike, killing the motorcyclist on the spot. Another person, riding pillion, suffered injuries in the collision," he said, adding that the driver and two other passengers in the car escaped unhurt even after falling into the ditch.

The injured person was sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi, sources said.
