Two killed in explosion in under construction tunnel

Two workers were killed and five others injured in a high intensity explosion triggered by lightning in an under construction tunnel of Koderma-Ranchi railway project.

District superintendent of police, M Tamilvanan said the explosion took place yesterday evening in Chutupalu valley in Jharkand's Ramgarh district when the workers of a construction company were filling explosives in holes for blasting which came in contact with a sudden lightning.

While one worker died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries on way to Ranchi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), police said, adding that five injured were admitted to RIMS.
