Two people were killed in landslides here following torrential rains since Thursday night which triggered flash floods and led to water logging in several areas, official sources said today.
The rains continued today and threw normal life out of gear causing massive waterlogging in various localities of Guwahati, the sources said.
The two people, including a woman, were killed in Jorabat area of the city along the Assam-Meghalaya border, police said.
A 70-year-old woman died when a wall of a house at Sankardev Nagar collapsed around 11 pm last night in a landslide following heavy thundershowers, the police said.
The woman was a guest in the house, which was situated on a hill top, and was sleeping along with 11 people when the landslide occurred, the police said, adding the other members escaped unhurt.
Another person died when a mound of earth from a landslide buried him at 13 Mile area, the police said, adding the debris also buried a few vehicles parked on the side of the road, the police said.

The flash floods at Jorabat submerged the area in chest deep water causing vehicles to be stranded on both sides of the border.
The main thoroughfares in Guwahati resembled rivers. There was waterlogging in the Dispur capital complex where the secretariat, assembly and the residences of the ministers and legislators are located.
There was knee-deep water in the quarters of several MLAs and at the MLA Hostel compound, official sources said.
Rescue operations were launched to help the marooned people to safety.
Birinchi Das, the officer-in-charge of Jirabat police station, last night risked his life had jumped into the neck- deep water to rescue passengers from stranded buses, the police said.
