Two killed in rain-triggered landslides in Uttarakhand

Two persons were today killed in a massive landslide triggered by heavy rains on the Nainital- Almora highway.

In another rain-induced landslide, a JCB was buried under debris at Khairna on the highway.

Two motorcycle-borne men were killed after a heap of rubble fell on them at Bhauriyaband on the Nainital-Almora highway, SSP Janmejay Khanduri said.

One of the men has been identified as 29-year-old Pankaj, a resident of Haldwani, he said.

The area where the incident occurred is vunerable to landslides during the monsoon.
