The pilot and a trainee on board a Chinese flight academy trainer were killed today when their small plane crashed into a farm field, officials said.
The trainer aircraft crashed in southwest China's Sichuan Province, killing the pilot and a trainee on board, local government said.
Both died at the scene.
The plane wreckage with the label "Civil Aviation Flight University of China" visible on its body was found in farmland in Haiyun Village of Dujiangyan City.
Officials with the Southwest Regional Administration of CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) are currently investigating the cause of the accident, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
