Two killed in van-truck head-on collision

Two persons were killed while two others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a trailer and a van on NH-33 under Shyamsunderpur police station in Ghatsila sub-division, police said today.

The incident occurred when the van carrying over a dozen of villagers from Kerukocha collided head-on with a trailer last night, they said.

One person identified as Choterai Murmu was killed on the spot while three seriously injured were rushed to a nursing home in Baharagora, police said, adding, that one of the injured Sanatan Murmu succumbed to injuries late last night.

The two other injured were also referred to the government-run MGM hospital, he said.
 

The driver of the trailer, however, managed to escape the scene following the incident, he added.
