Two killed on national highway 1 while replacing flat tyre

A driver and the cleaner of a mini-truck, who were replacing a deflated tyre, were killed when another vehicle hit them on National Highway 1 near Ambala city today, police said.

The deceased were both residents of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

They were going to Ludhiana in their truck and got down on the national highway to replace the tyre when an unknown vehicle hit them from behind, police said.

Both of them died on the spot while one more person accompanying them sustained serious injuries in the mishap.

A case had been registered against the driver of the unknown vehicle.
