Two killed, over 40 injured after bus turns turtle in Maha

Two persons were killed and over 40 injured after a private tourist bus overturned in Kopri ghat near Bhimashankar, around 80 km from here, police said today.

The mishap occurred late last night when the bus, carrying pilgrims, was returning to Pune from Bhimashankar, an official of Khed police station said.

Around 90 pilgrims, majority of them are from Odisha had gone to Bhimashankar, one of the 12 'Jyotirlingas'. When the bus was on its way to Pune, its driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn in the Kopri ghat and it overturned after hitting into road side barricades, he added.
 

Two pilgrims were killed on the spot and all the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

The deceased were identified as Prafulla Sahoo (43) and Mamata Mishra (45), both residents of Deogarh district in Odisha, said the official, adding the pilgrims were planning to visit the Shani Shinganapur shrine in neighbouring Ahmednagar district.
