Two killed, six injured as auto-rickshaw collides with truck

Two persons were killed while six others were seriously injured when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a truck in Begusarai district of Bihar, the police said.

The accident occurred at Moti Chowk under Barauni police station and the victims were all occupants of the auto-rickshaw.

Barauni Station House Officer Basant Kumar said, "Eight persons had gone in the auto-rickshaw to take holy dip in the Ganga at Simaria Ghat on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Their vehicle collided with a truck while they were returning to Barauni."

Punita Devi (35) and Rajiv Chaudhary (26) died on the spot and the six injured were admitted to nearby private hospitals by local people, the SHO said.
 

The police have sent the bodies for postmortem to Begusarai Sadar Hospital and were looking for the driver of the truck, who escaped with the vehicle after the accident.
