A 35-year-old man and his 58-year-old mother died and three other persons sustained injuries when their car dashed against a roadside pole on the State Highway-10 between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda, police said.
The accident took place at Bhalubeda area under Sasan Police Station jurisdiction when Khirod Das was taking his family members to Marakuta village under Jharsuguda district.
Police said Khirod, who was driving the car, lost control over the wheels and the vehicle dashed against road side pole. Khirod and his mother Bhubaneswari died on the spot, three injured persons were rushed to the local government hospital, police said.
The police said a motor cycle rider had also died in an accident at the same place last night.
