Two km stretch of Sunder Nagri cleared of encroachment

Delhi government today launched an anti-encroachment drive and cleared a two kilometer stretch in Sunder Nagri area of east Delhi, which was allegedly encroached by the car dealers.

The drive was conducted under Deputy Commissioner (Shahdara District) after many complaints were received about stolen cars being sold and dismantled in the Sunder Nagri area, officials said.

"This area is infamous of illegal trade of cars. Most of the stolen car is brought here for further sale or are being dismantled and sold as scrap," said Abhishek Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Shahdara District).

District administration along with police, Municipal Corporation started the drive and seized around 10 vehicles and five trucks from the area.
 

"We have cleared the entire area which was being used for illegal work. All the recovered vehicle and scrap is handed over to EDMC. Meanwhile, we have given the car details to the police to verify the owner and check if the cars were stolen," Singh said.

Singh claims with the drive they have managed to clear two kilometer long stretch area.
