Two members of Shahid Langda gang held in dacoity case

Police and crime branch have arrested two members of notorious Shahid Langda gang here in relation with a two-month-old robbery where more than a dozen armed robbers have looted a scrap trader after holding hostage his entire family.

Acting upon secret information two persons were intercepted at Ganges canal regulator in Murad Nagar here and arms and cash was seized from them, Senior Superintendent of police Deepak kumar said.

Two 315 bore country made pistols and four live cartridges were seized from them, who were later identified as Shankar alias Aman and Sirazuddin alias Mubaraq.

Thirty thousand rupees were also recovered from them.
 

During interrogation they confessed looting of cash and jewellery worth Rs 40 lakhs from the house of scrap trader Shahid babu Qureshi of Indira puri colony of Murad Nagar town on the intervening night of 16-17 October, Kumar said.

While fleeing, the robbers held the trader's family hostage in the rooms and took away their mobiles, scooty and motor cycle so that they may not inform police immediately.

Both of them admitted that they are active members of Shahid Langda gang who is a dreaded criminal of western Uttar Pradesh.

More than half dozen cases of dacoity, arms act and of other crimes are registered against this gang in Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Shamli and Ghaziabad districts.

Rest of the robbers will be nabbed soon, the SSP added.
