Two men get ten years jail in drug smuggling case

A local court here today awarded ten years of rigorous imprisonment to two men in a drug smuggling case.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh each on the duo- Deepak Meena (24) and Jagdish Bairagi (37).

The sentence was awarded by Special Session Judge P K Sinha under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The duo had been arrested by Bhanwarkuan Police on January 28, 2012 after they were found transporting 2.940 kg opium in a vehicle, Additional Public Prosecutor N A Mandloi told reporters.

The prosecution had presented ten witnesses in the court to buttress its case. Is regard.
