Two men wanted for murder and looting cop's pistol arrested

Two people wanted in connection with decamping with a cop's service pistol and killing a person with it were arrested here today, police official said.

Dewas-Ujjain Road Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rakesh Gupta told reporters that accused Akeel Imtiaz and Salman aka Elahabadi looted a car from Bengali Square here and reached adjoining Dewas district on April 21 after which they knocked down an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police and decamped with his service pistol.

Then they stopped a motorbike-borne person, shot him dead with the firearm at Ujjain-Indore Road and fled with the deceased's two-wheeler, the DIG said.

The next day on April 22, they looted a cab from the Super Corridor area of the city but left it in the Bhawarkuan area which was cordoned off by the police, Gupta said.
 

He said that the looted pistol has been seized from the accused adding that a hunt has been launched three of their accomplices.
