Two migrant workers died while six others were rescued when a heap of soil caved in on them while they were digging a pit at a construction site near here today, police said.
The deceased were identified as Jabbar and Kismat, they said.
Eight workers, all hailing from Bihar, were at work when the incident occurred around 4 pm.
Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel rescued seven people.
However, Kismat, who suffered serious injuries, died at a private hospital here, police said.
Jabbar was trapped under the debris and his body was recovered at 8.30 pm, they said.

Another person, who was also seriously injured, is undergoing treatment at the hospital while five others have been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
Details of the workers could not be known immediately.
The soil might have become loose due to overnight rains in the city, police said.
Kozhikode District Collector U V Jose and City Police Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar visited the site and supervised rescue operations.
