Sources said commandos, following reports of movement of militants, combed Lamdeng Khunou area, about 15 km west of here last night at around 9 pm.
As they stepped up the operation, the commandos were fired upon, sources said adding that in the ensuing exchange of fire, two militants were killed.
The bodies have been sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital here for post mortem.
