Two militants and a soldier were today killed in an encounter between the ultras and security forces in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, an army official said.
Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Wadder Bala village of Handwara in Kupwara district following information about presence of two to three heavily armed militants in the area, the official said.
He said two militants were killed in the exchange of firing between the two sides.

The official said two AK assault rifles, one under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), two radio sets and other warlike stores have been recovered from the spot.
"The operation is still in progress," he added.
