Two minor girls drowned in river Burhidangi near Jaminiguri village in Bihar's Kishanganj district.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Mohammad Shafique said that the incident occurred when the two girls- both sisters- were crossing the river to cut grass on the other side but they were swept away by the gush of flood water in the river near Jaminiguri village under Thakurganj block of the district.
The deceased have been identified as Rafia (10) and Sharmeen (12), daughters of Mohammad Suleman alias Biju of the village.

The bodies of the two minors were fished out from the river with the help of NDRF personnel, he said.
Mauzzam Ali, a villager, said that Burhidangi river normally has shallow water but the incessant rains coupled with flood waters have increased the water level of the river.
The girls could not gauged the deep waters and drowned in the river, he added.
