Four persons, including two teenagers, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a five-year-old boy for ransom from Mumbra area, police said today.

According to police, one of those arrested is cousin of the victim Hamidarza Khan. The accused had allegedly hatched the abduction plan to avenge an old family feud.

"On April 4, police had received a complaint from Sakila Jalaluddin Khan, a resident of Chandnagar Kausa in Mumbra, that her five-year-old son, who was playing in the courtyard of the house, had been kidnapped by some unknown persons," Senior PI S M Mundhe of Mumbra police station told reporters.

Though police launched a search for him, victim's family received a call from an unknown person that day demanding Rs four lakh ransom and asking his father to come to Koparkhairne railway station with the money.

Police reached the spot with the victim's father and laid a trap. However, no one turned up that day at the station.

However, next morning about 5 AM, someone left the boy at the entrance of the house. But his father got the ramson call for Rs four lakh. This time, he was asked to come to Turbhe Naka.

When Mumbra police went to the location in plain clothes and laid a trap, they found a 15-year-old boy at the spot. Police nabbed the boy, who had come to collect the money and through him, they came to know that some more persons were involved in the crime, they said.

During interrogation, the teenaged boy gave information about involvement of others and based on the information given three others were also arrested.

Two of the arrested have been identified as Mohamad Harun Pathan (19) and Safeel Nanne Khan (20).

"The third boy is a minor and is the cousin of the victim. He had abducted the victim with the help of the others to avenge an old enmity between the two families," Police Inspector (Crime) S A Bhagwan said.

The four were arrested last evening and further probe were on, the police said.
