Two more arrested in Maruti-Suzuki violence case

The arrested were identified as Harminder, who hails from Chandigarh, and Pradeep from Rewari. Police, however, did not disclose from where they were nabbed.

With this, a total of 99 workers have been arrested so far in connection with the July 18 arson and rioting at the plant in which a senior Maruti official was killed and 100 injured.

Ninety one of those arrested on the night of incident are in fourteen days' judicial custody.

Three out of six who were arrested on July 22 are also in judicial custody, while two -- Naveen of Jhajjar and Pradeep of Jind -- were today discharged following recommendation of the Maruti Suzuki management that they were not involved in the incident.

 

Yogesh Kumar, organising secretary of Maruti Suzuki Union and a resident of Jhajjar, is in police custody till July 28.

Arrest warrants were also issued against twelve workers including office bearers of workers' union on July 23.
