Two more arrested in stabbing of couple by pickpockets

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a couple who tried to catch pickpockets near Pragati Maidan, police said today.

Amarjeet Kumar, whose mobile phone was pick pocketed, had tried to catch the pickpockets on Sunday evening. He was stabbed to death while his wife Manju was injured.

The deceased, was returning to his home in outer Delhi's Nilothi along with his family after a visit to the zoo, when the incident took place.

They boarded a bus and the mobile phone of the deceased was taken out by a pick pocket near Pragati Maidan.
 

Police said Amarjeet and his wife Manju followed the pickpockets. They managed to catch two pick pockets, but Amarjeet was stabbed in the chest and Manju was slashed in the arm.

Injured Amarjeet and his wife were rushed to RML hospital where he succumbed to his wounds early this morning. Manju was said to be out of danger.

The duo caught on the spot were identified as Suraj, 20, and Sumit, 25, while their associate Ajit , 24, was later caught from Shahdara.

Today two more accused Vipin, 24, and Javed, 18, were caught. A car used by the accused was also seized from them, said Madhur Verma, DCP.
