Two brothers, who were absconding after being sentenced for life in a murder case, surrendered before a local court.

Nakli Ram and Rampal were sentenced to life imprisonment in 1983 for murdering one Bhuler Singh and had appealed in the High Court against their conviction, SHO Kotwali, R K Sharma said.

No decision was taken on their appeal, following which they were released on bail in 1983, he said.

However, the case was taken up in the High Court last month which dismissed the appeal by the brothers and ordered the lower court to send them to jail to complete their sentence.

A warrant was issued against the two who were absconding since then and only surrendered in the court yesterday, following which Chief Judicial Magistrate Narendra Kumar sent them to jail, police said.
