Two suspected Nilgai poachers were arrested while three others managed to flee from Shivalik forest area today.
Police recovered a 12 bore gun, a dozen live cartridges, animal meat and a car with a Delhi registration number from the arrested duo.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Mirzapur police station, led by SHO Sanjeev Bhatnagar, surrounded the gang who had come to poach Nilgai or the Asiatic antelope, said Additional Superintendent of Police Jagdish Sharma.

Bilal and Raheel, both residents of Pakka Bagh, were arrested. They reportedly told the police that they have poached animals in the forest on earlier occasions as well.
A case has been registered and a hunt launched to nab the remaining members of the gang.
