Two Odisha cops held on graft charge

Two Odisha police officers of the rank of sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector were arrested today by anti-corruption vigilance sleuths while accepting bribe in Ganjam district.

The Berhampur Vigilance wing registered cases against SI Bhagirathi Prusty and ASI Balaram Rout, both of Beguniapada out post under Kodala Police Station in Ganjam district for allegedly demanding illegal gratification of Rs 4,000.

They had demanded the money from the complainant Balaram Nayak of B.Nuagaon village for sending the case diary to the Court, an official release said.

A trap was laid today by the vigilance officers of Berhampur Division and the accused police officers were caught red in the Beguniapada Out Post while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4,000.
 

The bribe amount was seized from the possession of accused ASI Rout, the release said adding the two cops have been arrested.
