Two of a family die in accident

Two persons of a family were killed and as many injured when the car carrying them hit an oil tanker near Haripur under Rairakhole police station in Sambalpur district today, the police said.

The accident took place on National Highway-55 when Kamal Panda (35) was travelling in his car along with his wife Sasmita (28), son Pravin (5) and 18-month-old daughter Mahima and father-in-law Pitabas Panda (65).

On its way to Bhubaneswar from Hirakud, the car rammed into the oil tanker head-on killing Sasmita and her father on the spot.

Kamal and Pravin were taken to VSS Medical College Hospital in serious condition.
 

However, the 18-month-old girl was unhurt, the police said.
