The commerce ministry has appointed two officers from customs and directorate of foreign trade to resolve issues of exporters with regard to GST, FIEO today said.

Apex exporters body Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has requested Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to appoint a single contact point for the exporting community to look into the urgent issues faced by them.

The organisation said in a statement that Satya Srinivas, joint secretary (Customs) in CBEC and Ajay Srivastava, joint DGFT have been appointed for the purpose.

During his meeting with the commerce minister, FIEO President Ganesh Kumar Gupta raised major issues with regard to drawback rates and clarification on eligibility of exporters for bond with bank guarantee and letter of undertaking.

"As this is the first week of the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), it is extremely important to understand the procedures that have been notified for exporters and assess the challenges," Gupta said.
