Two officials booked for allegedly accepting a bribe

A panchayat secretary and lower division clerk (LDC) posted in Tirla Janpadin district of Madhya Pradesh was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police today, while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.

Acting on a complaint filed by Poonamsingh Dabar that panchayat secretary Kailash Dodwe and LDC Mahesh Sharma had demanded Rs 65,000 bribe from him to fix his pay scale, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B S Parihar said.

Both the officials were caught red-handed accepting Rs 35,000 as the first instalment of bribe from the complainant in front of a bank in Tirla, he said.

A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against them, the DSP said.
