Two opium drug traffickers arrested

A contractor was among two persons arrested from Begumpet here on charges of trying to sell opium and 1.8 kg of contraband worth Rs 10 lakh was seized from them, police said today.

Sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (Central Zone) Team with the joint operation of Anti-Narcotics Cell of Central Crime Station (CCS) apprehended T Srinivas, a contractor hailing from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh and P Rama Raju, a native of Bellary district of Karnataka, they said.

The duo was waiting for customers when a police party rushed to the spot and apprehended them and recovered one black colour bag containing opium weighing about 1.8 kg from them, Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police B Limba Reddy said.
 

Efforts are on to nab another accused Venkatesh, a native of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh from whom the opium was brought to Hyderabad, he added.
