Two peacocks killed in West Bengal

Two peacocks were killed allegedly by personnel of the joint security forces deployed in anti-Maoist operations in West Bengal's Purulia district.

The birds were killed on Saturday evening at Baghmundi area and the villagers lodged a complaint with the police, superintendent of police Rupesh Kumar said today.

He said the villagers had also met him and complained about the killing of the birds allegedly by Naga personnel in the force.

"I have ordered probe into the incident. If found guilty the two security personnel will be arrested," he added.
