Two people, who barged into a journalist's house in an drunken state in suburban Santacruz and allegedly assaulted him as well as his younger brother after a heated argument, were arrested today, the police said.

Both the accused, Sukhvindar Singh (29) and Hukumat Singh (22) were arrested under relevant sections of the IPC, Vakola police station's Assistant Police Inspector Rajdutt Kamble said.

According to the police, journalist Zuber Ansari's elder brother Jahiruddin, who resides in the Yogiraj Ashram locality of Santacruz, went out for dinner with his wife and three children last night.

When Jahiruddin returned at about 1.30 AM today, he spotted two people sitting and consuming alcohol at a place he usually parks his vehicle.

When he requested them to make way so that he could park his vehicle, the accused had a heated argument with him and left the place only to return after a while, Kamble said.

The two accused then banged on the door of the residence. They furiously barged into the house and began thrashing Zuber and his younger brother Rizwan Ansari as they could not spot Jahiruddin.

After they left the place, the police was notified and they were tracked down, the police said.

The accused had carried out the attack under the influence of alcohol, Kamble said, adding that they were subsequently arrested.
