Two people were arrested in Haryana's Jind district Thursday after illegal weapons were found in their possession, police said.
Five pistols and six live cartridges were seized from them, a police spokesman said here.
He said the duo were identified as Deepak, alias Makala, a resident of Ram Nagar Colony, Narwana, and Amit, alias Mita, a resident of Risalu village in Panipat.
"Six criminal cases were already registered against them at different police stations," he said.
The arrest came after police were informed that two people carrying illicit weapons were roaming in the Alewa area of Jind with an intention to commit a crime, the official added.
"Acting swiftly, police team nabbed the duo from the Alewa bus stand. When searched, police found a pistol and two live cartridges from Amit, whereas Deepak was arrested with four pistols and as many live cartridges," he said.
"During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that the accused used to bring illicit weapons from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh," he added.
