Two geckos, including a rare Golden Gecko, were seized from two persons at Gurukuchi in Assam's Kamrup district today.

On a tip-off, Rangia police station officer in-charge Himagshu Das launched an operation in the area and stopped a car with a 'Press' sticker carrying four persons.

On searching the vehicle a Golden Gecko and a Regular Gecko were recovered and two of the four were nabbed, while the other two fled, police sources said.

The two apprehended persons identified as James Boro and Farooq Ali were being interrogated, the sources said.

The primitive endangered Golden Gecko is a medium- sized lizard with a rich golden hide and is protected under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
