Two persons arrested with Rs 5 lakh Indian currency in Nepal

Nepal police today arrested two persons here for illegally carrying Indian currency worth Rs 513,000 here.

The accused have been identified as Surendra Kumar Mahato and Ajay Kumar Mahato who were heading towards Janakpur Airport.

According to Nepal police sources, the duo were arrested from Janaki Chowk, Janakpur in Southern Nepal as they could not disclose the source of the foreign currency.

They have also recovered an ATM card of Nepal SBI Bank and eight other ATM cards of different commercial banks.

The accused have been taken into custody and the investigation is underway.

The Indian bank notes were handed over to the Revenue Investigation Department.
