Two persons injured

: Two persons including an NRI, who were out to witness some local festivities, were injured when they were beaten up allegedly by some local people who mistook them for robbers, police said today.

The two have been hospitalised.

Two police personnel, who intervened, were also injured when they were attacked by the group, police said.

The incident occurred at Arikode in Malappuram district last night when the two, including the NRI who is visiting his home state on leave from the Gulf, set out in their vehicle to get a flavour of the festivities.

However, some locals allegedly attacked them and damagedtheir vehicle, police said.
