Two persons killed in Bengal road accidents

Two persons were killed and one was injured in two road accidents in West Bengal's Nadia district on Sunday, police said.

One person was killed and another injured when a truck hit the motorcycle they were riding on at Depara area under Kotoali police station limits, a police officer said.

The incident took place when the two persons were riding towards district headquarters Krishnanagar, he said.

Thirty seven-year-old Sabur Ali Biswas was brought dead to Bishnupur rural hospital whereas the motorcycle rider, Diptangshu Biswas, is undergoing treatment at a hospital here, the officer said.

The truck has been seized and a manhunt has been launched to trace the driver, he said.

 

In another incident, a 55-year-old person was killed when a vehicle hit the bicycle he was riding on at Gachha area under Nakashipara police station limits, the officer said.

The deceased has been identified as Ruhul Amin Sheikh, a resident of Betuadahari, he said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and efforts are on to trace the vehicle, the officer added.
