Two persons killed in clash between two groups over land

Two persons were killed and six others injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in village Dharsul of Fatehabad district, the police said today.

The deceased were identified as Deepak (29) and Vijender (30).

Seven persons have been held in connection with the clash which took place last night, officials said.

According to the police, there was a dispute over land measuring about 55 acres.

"There are two factions in the village. One of the groups tried to take possession of a piece of land yesterday following a court decision but the rival group led objected which led to tension in the village," a police official said.
 

The police then intervened and called both the parties to police station to resolve the issue.

"However, last night when a member of one of the groups was passing through a street he was beaten up by rivals. This led to the armed clash between them which resulted into the death of Deepak and Vijendar," a police official said, adding further investigations were under progress.
