Two persons killed in lightning

Two persons including a woman were killed when lightning struck them in separate incidents in Jharkhand today, police said.

A 35-year-old man Santosh Ram was killed on the outskirts of the steel city here when lightning struck him, Officer-in-charge of the police station, Dilip Yadav said.

Ram was on his way home on a motorcycle when rain accompanied by thunder struck the area, forcing him to take a shelter under a tree, which was hit by the thunderbolt this evening, Yadav said.

Ram fell conscious and was rushed to M G M Hospital but the doctors declared him dead, Yadav said adding that a woman, who also took shelter under the tree escaped unharmed in the incident.
 

A report from Lohardaga district received here stated that a 18-year-old woman, Raisa Khatoon was killed when lightning struck her..

She had taken shelter under a tree during the heavy rains this evening when lightning struck her, sources added

Two persons were injured when an uprooted tree fell on them in Bistupur area of the steel city, police said.
