Two persons were killed and 9 others critically injured in a collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw carrying school children near Hindol in Dhenkanal district today.
The mishap took place when the bus had a head-on collision with the auto-rickshaw carrying school students back to their houses at Satamile, police said.
The auto driver and a child sitting in the front seat died on the spot and nine students travelling in the auto sustained serious injuries.
The injured were taken to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where their condition was stated to be critical, police said.
In protest against the incident, local people blocked the road for sometime. The road blockade was lifted after intervention by officials, they added.
