Two persons lynched for stealing autorickshaw

Two persons were allegedly lynched by villagers in the district today for stealing an auto- rickshaw, police said.

The incident occurred in Beldia village under Dandkhora police station, Katihar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rakesh Kumar said.

"Two persons had allegedly stolen an auto-rickshaw belonging to one Sanjeev Mandal, and were taking it towards Kumudpur in West Bengal. The villagers intercepted them after upon receiving information about the same, and thrashed them brutally," said Kumar.

The SDPO said the injured persons died on their way to the hospital.

The auto-rickshaw has been recovered, and the bodies have been sent to Katihar Sadar Hospital for postmortem, police said, adding, the deceased are yet to be identified.
