Two poachers, who used to trap and kill wild boar and deer at regular intervals, were arrested by forest guards in a raid in the Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, a forest official said today.

"Besides making the arrest, the guards seaized raw meat, deer hide, antlers, nets and nylon loops used for trapping animals during the raid in Bagapatia protected forest block in the core area of the national park on Saturday," Divisional Forest Officer, Rajnagar Mangrove (wildlife) Forest Division, Kedar Kumar Swain said.

The poachers -- Saroj Mallik and Anand Mallik -- were adept in poaching of wild boar and deer species, Swain said.
