: Two poachers have been arrested at nearby Kavindapady village and three legs of a Sambar deer, a country made gun and two kg of gunpowder seized from them, forest deparment officials said.

The officials, acting on a tip off, went to the village late last night and saw four persons entering a house with a gunny bag and nabbed two of them. A check revealed them to be carrying the deer legs and the country gun.

On being questioned, the duo, both brothers, reportedly admitted that the gang had recently killed a sambar deer, consumed the meat and then decided to sell the leg pieces to the house owner.

The house owner was also arrested.

Meanwhile the highly decomposed body of a man was recovered by forest personnel at Perumpallam in Sathyamangalam forest area yesterday.

Officials suspect the man might have been trampled to death by an elephant, as the movement of pachyderms is high in the area.
