Two poachers killed in Orang Natl Park

Two poachers were killed in an encounter with forest guards in Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park in Assam's Sonitpur district.

According to the National Park's divisional forest officer Sunny Choudhary, a group of poachers tried to enter the park last night at around 1 am.

When they were ordered to stop and identify themselves, the poachers fired at the security personnel, who returned it, he said.

The two bodies were recovered from the site of the encounter during the search operation and are yet to be identified.

The Forest Guards also seized one .303 rifle, magazine with four rounds of ammunition, another ten rounds and an axe from the spot, which is the middle of Baghbari and Khairasali camp of the Park, Choudhary said.
