Two police officials were suspended today on charges of dereliction of duties under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits here.

Malkajgiri police station inspector J Rajashekhar Reddy and sub-inspector N Ramesh allegedly did not respond to the situation at a time when communal tension built up at Bharatnagar in Moula Ali area here last night, an official release said.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand suspended the two police officials on charges of negligence of duties, the release said.

According to the police, the situation became tense after a dispute over the parking of an auto rickshaw in a bylane of the area.

"A member of a community objected to the parking of the auto rickshaw by a member of another community, saying that

the vehicle obstructed the pathway to his house. Both of them had a heated argument, even as elders of both the communities intervened and brought the situation under control," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Malkajgiri Zone) K Koteswara Rao said.

However, later, one of the community members allegedly attacked the auto rickshaw owner and his family members after which a case was registered and seven people were arrested in connection with the incident, Rao said, adding that the situation is totally under control and there was no further flare-up.

Further investigations are on, police said.
