Two policemen and the driver of the vehicle, in which they were travelling, were killed this morning when it met with an accident on National Highway 34 near Nakashipara in Nadia district, police said.
According to Nadia SP Rupesh Kumar, the mishap happened in the wee hours when the vehicle, in which the policemen of Uttar Dinajpur district were travelling to Kolkata, met with the accident killing two policemen and the driver.
Another policemen who was in the same vehicle was seriously injured and was undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, the SP said adding that the vehicle was travelling from Uttar Dinajpur to Kolkata on official work.
"The cause of the accident is yet not known. Whether it has hit by any other vehicle needed to be find out because there is no eye witness of the accident. We are probing into it," Kumar said.
