Two policemen killed while chasing liquor goons in Gujarat

Two policemen were killed and as many injured in an accident which took place when they were chasing a liquor-carrying vehicle in adjoining Bhavnagar district today, officials said.

A police team in a jeep was chasing a liquor-carrying vehicle when the jeep fell into a canal.

"Two policemen died when their jeep fell into a canal in Botad town while chasing some liquor goons," said Bhavnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police Tejas Patel.

The deceased were identified as Constables Rajesh Koli (28) and Ashwin Solanki (38). While Koli died on the spot, Solanki succumbed to his injuries at Bhavnagar Civil Hospital he said.
 

The two injured policemen were admitted at the Civil Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, Patel added.
