Two quakes rock NE states

Two earthquakes of slight intensity struck Assam and neighbouring states today but there was no report of any loss or damage so far.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the first quake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck Assam at 10.14 am.

Its epicentre was Kokrajhar in lower Assam, IMD said.

The second earthquake had an intensity of 4.9 and struck at 10.57 am along the Indo-Myanmar border, it said.

No report of any damage or loss has been received till now, officials said.
