Two railway engineers posted in West Central Railway here were today arrested by anti-corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.99 lakh from a railway contractor.
"Deputy Chief Engineer Manvendra Singh (Senior Divisional Engineer) and Divisional Engineer Suresh Singh took Rs 1.07 lakh and 92,000 respectively from the contractor to pass his bill amounting Rs 7.5 crore," IG ACB Dinesh MN said.
Manvendra, who is the officer of Indian Engineering Service of 1999 batch, had already taken Rs 8.5 lakh whereas Suresh, a promotee IES officer, took Rs 1.5 lakh before the contractor approached the ACB.
They were placed under arrest, he said.
