Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) sleuths today arrested two land revenue officials while allegedly accepting bribes in Begusarai and Saran districts of Bihar.

The officials said Vinod Kumar Mahantha, Circle Ameen (official who measures land) of Bakhri in Begusarai was arrested while taking Rs 15,000 from one Krishnadeo Sah.

"Sah had complained that Mahantha was demanding money to send land demarcation application to the Circle Officer (CO) of Bakhri.

"We verified the complaint, found it to be true and sent a trap team under the leadership of DSP Mohammad Jameeruddin. The culprit was caught while taking graft," said Vigilance Additional Director General (ADG) Ravinder Kumar.

In the other incident, a trap team led by DSP Maharaja Kanishka Kumar nabbed revenue official Baban Kumar of Sonepur circle in Saran district while accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from one Subodh Kumar of Kalyanpur village in the vicinity.

Baban had demanded money for conducting the mutation of land belonging to Subodh.

VIB has conducted 55 traps across the state since January this year and arrested 58 government officials on bribery charges.
